The second woman of my series of five medals is Marguerite ‘John’ Radclyffe Hall (1880 – 1943). She was a writer who wrote the first lesbian novel in 1929. It was an important novel for all the writers that came after her, enabling them to write also about lhbtiq+ matters. She could write about it because of her independence although it was a big risk in her time. I am thankful she did, it broadened my view on other possible ways of living together.

Backside of the Medal: The title of the novel “The Well of Lonelyness” written by Marguerite Radclyffe Hall.
